The selection of Sarah Palin, the
relatively unknown Governor of Alaska, so quickly after Obama's
rousing success at the end of the Democratic Convention, was
possibly the greatest strategic maneuver ever perpetrated by any
party on the route to the white house. That nomination did exactly
what was intended. It snatched Obama's and the democratic
thunder. Obama and his words were placed on second rung, while
every media outlet in the nation rushed headlong into an abyss of
the unknown to find out just who and what this interloper was.
The vetting was hurried, if ever considered. Serious doubt
lingers if Sarah was ever vetted at all. None of the Alaska
powers that be admit to being consulted.
Media
representatives and reporters invaded Alaska. Alaskans received
calls from family, friends and in some cases acquaintances
they had not heard from or seen in years. Who was Sarah
Palin? Was she really the new wonder of the political world?
The hype was immediate, just as intended by the McCain
Committee. Had the election been held within a week, or ten
days, it would have been a sweep. But that did not happen,
and second thoughts now prevail.
IS SARAH WINDOW DRESSING OR A RUNNING MATE?
McCain has expressed that he consults Sarah on Foreign affairs. Yet,
Sarah, ‘his running mate' was not even told, much less
consulted, on the decision to pull out of Michigan. Media
was fully aware of this decision before Sarah, who learned of
that decision through those news reports.
Sarah has stated
that she and McCain talk daily, discussing national topics.
Yet, in place of telephoning or discussing the matter in
their daily chats, she emailed McCain asking that she and
Todd be allowed to campaign in Michigan.
If this incident is
not the ‘handwriting on the wall as to "Sarah's place" in the
scheme of any new administration of change, nothing more will
ever be as evident. Thus, It is unmistakably certain she will
be kept in the dark, as she has been hidden and shrouded on the
campaign trail since her nomination. Her major function within
that administration will likely be waiting, should that
heartbeat stop, rather than take any meaningful part in the
governance of our nation.
DEREGULATION AND AMERICA'S CRISES
Many Senior citizens have retirement savings in stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
The present wall street crises has caused distress and panic
in seniors who do not have funds or time to start over again.
While a great number of seniors believe that the 700 billion
dollar bail out is a disgrace to all America, they worry that
their IRAs and other funds planned for retirement will
disappear down the rabbit hole.
The shenanigans and wild wheeling and
dealing on wall street, sub prime loans, and numerous other
factors has been cited as cause of this crash. Although
there is enough blame to go around on both the Republican and
Democratic side of the aisle, deregulation is at the vanguard
of the argument. Senator McCain has throughout his career
pointed with pride to his history of approval of deregulation.
"The basic core principal of the Republican Party ...Less government Less regulation" (CNN Newsroom November 8, 2006)
"I am a Deregulator, I Believe in deregulation" (CNN ‘In the Money July 13, 2003)
"I have a long voting record in Support of Deregulation" (St Petersburg Times (June 5, 2003)
"I continue to believe in a strong national defense, free trade, and deregualtion" (CNN Wokf Blitzer reports May 8, 2002)
"Keep the regulation of the government as much as possible out of peoples lives" (PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer February 2, 2000)
"I believe in smaller government....., less regulation" (PBS NewsHour October 15 1999)
THE MAVERICK
Although Senator McCain credits himself as a individual who often disagrees with policy of his own party, independent and often a non conformist, often at odds with his own party and thus self proclaiming he is a Maverick, he also denies that distinction "I've been a good party member. I agree on most issues. Fundamentals of lower taxes, less regulation, smaller government, coherent foreign policy, national defense (CNN ‘Crossfire' September 13, 1999)
MUDDY WATERS
The McCain Palin Campaign
now
slings mud in regard to Obama's associations. Although Obama
repeatedly expalined his minuscule relationship of that situation
in media outlets,
the McCain Camp continually uses their own spin to discredit.
Yet, McCain
has a past with dubious associations. McCain was one
of the Keating five
and was noted as having 'poor judgment'. The Keating Five was the scandal that
was cause of
numerous Senior citizens losing
their entire life's savings. McCain has not attempted to
explain his duplicity in that matter.
Does this ring any bells in regard to the present National crises?
